seniors getting started online

Attention to detail

I was reminded the other day, that it’s often the little things that can make or mar someone’s confidence in using the internet and technology. D, J and I were having a go at looking up flights to Barcelona. Tried Expedia first. No results. D realised that, more than likely, it was because we’d selected Edinburgh as the departure airport. Hats off to Lowcostholidays.com who spared us the hassle of trying one airport after another by having an entry for ‘all Scottish airports’.

Both were getting the hang of the touchpad on the laptop pretty well, but from time to time would be baffled when a web page they didn’t want sprang up as they were moving the cursor across to a link. Ah, of course, adjust the touchpad settings to disable the ‘tap to click’ feature and problem solved! Unfortunately that’s not something a new user will know about. If this is you, don’t be afraid to ask more tech savvy family member or friend if you’re having problems – it’s not you, often a simple adjustment can help.
